Mini Mastery
On any given day, the city is humming with soccer moms transporting their busy little ones around town. Only instead of piloting a DVD-equipped SUV to a green field, they boldly carry strollers down into the subway, or pile kids bearing violin cases into the back of taxi cabs. From language classes at the Lycée, to art classes at a Soho gallery – it’s absolutely essential to expose the wee ones to all the opportunities out there.
But frankly, all this running around and waiting in cramped, airless rooms listening to The Merry Farmer plunked out for the ten thousandth time, has resulted in much wear and tear on moms. Not to mention a general feeling of grumpiness over having to exchange valuable time for hours of chauffeuring.
Lucky for you, plenty of entrepreneurial women have shared your pain and responded by creating spaces that meet everyone’s needs – all under one roof. The latest player to join this growing trend is miniMasters, a new two-level, 6000 square foot family center designed for kids to learn while their grownups recharge.
The age range for classes is 18 months to age six and includes music (violin and piano lessons are taught using the Suzuki method), Pilates-based fitness, ballet, and art. While Junior’s grande jetté is tended to, parents can indulge in Pilates classes (including Pilates for Golf), have a manicure, pedicure, massage or other treatment in the Spa, refuel in the Café with a healthy treat, catch-up on work using the wireless Internet access, or relax in the Den – a private screening room with favorite movies and programs.
miniMasters officially opens for business the beginning of April, but you can drop in and experience the concept firsthand during their open houses this week.
Now while the experts inspire your offspring, you can finally indulge yourself.
Or at least skip the bad coffee.
